Privacy policy
We respect your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We never sell your personal data.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, the name for your certificates, email address, optional country, and a securely hashed password.
- Learning records: courses you enroll in, lessons completed, knowledge-check and assessment answers and scores, active learning time, completion dates and certificates.
- Reviews: ratings and testimonials you choose to submit, and whether you consent to publication.
- Email sign-ups: if you join our mailing list or a course waitlist, your email address and where you signed up.
- Technical data: IP address and browser information used for security, fraud prevention and audit logs.
- Usage analytics (only with your permission): pages visited, device and browser type, approximate location (country or city) and how you arrived at the site, collected through Google Analytics.
Why we use it
- To provide the Service: save your progress, grade assessments and issue certificates.
- To let third parties verify certificates you share with them.
- To maintain accurate training records, which may be required for future course accreditation and quality audits.
- To send service emails (such as password resets and certificates) and, if you opt in, occasional updates.
- To keep the Service secure and improve our courses.
Certificate verification
Anyone with your certificate number can see the recipient name, course, content version, completion and expiry dates, and status on our verification page. Your email address is never shown.
Cookies and similar technology
We use one essential cookie to keep you logged in, and store small values in your browser to remember your cookie choice and avoid showing our email pop-up repeatedly.
Analytics cookies are optional. If you choose “Accept analytics”, we use Google Analytics (cookies named _ga and _ga_*, kept for up to 2 years) to understand how people use the site, such as which lessons are most helpful. Nothing is loaded until you agree, the admin area is never tracked, and you can change your choice at any time using “Cookie settings” in the footer. Declining removes these cookies. We don't use advertising cookies and don't use analytics data for advertising.
Lesson videos use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode and load only when you press play; YouTube's own privacy policy then applies.
Sharing
We share data only with service providers who help us run the Service (such as hosting, email delivery and, if you opt in, Google Analytics), under terms that protect it, or when required by law.
Retention
We keep account and learning records while your account is active. Certificate and assessment records may be kept for up to seven years after a certificate expires so certificates can be verified and training records audited, unless you ask us to delete them and no legal obligation requires us to keep them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or US state privacy laws), you can request access to, correction, export or deletion of your data, and withdraw marketing consent at any time. Email hello@firstaidfreecourse.com.
Children
The Service isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
